30年代的上海，马丽某年生日收到了表姐送来的一块古董梳妆台，可是表姐已在几年前被她设计迫害自杀了。她的丈夫是著名教授，可是两人年龄差异较大，丈夫有了外遇，对方竟是马丽的表姐，马丽愤怒设计杀死他们，最后自己也在那块镜子前自杀了。 90年代的新加坡，律师詹辛为了丰厚的报酬，埋没良心为罪大恶极富家子辩护。他的妻子买来了一块古董梳妆台，每当他在镜前都会发生奇怪的事情。后来他因车祸毁容了，没想到整形医生拆开纱布的一刻他发现，自己的容貌跟富家子被杀害的人的模样。 世纪末的香港，兰姨（罗兰饰）含辛茹苦独自带大孙子麦迪（谢霆锋饰），对他无比牵挂。可是孙子带回来洋气女友Ruby（林心如饰）令她很不满意。Ruby得知兰姨身价丰厚，便极力讨好她，杀害兰姨后嫁祸他人，她在新买回来的古董梳妆台中看到了幻觉，自杀身亡。
