剧情介绍
GLOBAL公司派遣员工Steve Butler（马特·达蒙 Matt Damon 饰）和Sue Thomason（弗兰西斯·麦克多蒙德 Frances McDormand 饰）到一个以农业为经济支柱却蕴含丰富天然气资源的小镇，试图说服当地居民和GLOBAL公司合作，一起开采天然气，此举也将振兴当地的经济。Steve本以为这是水到渠成的事情，却遭到了当地高中的一名教科学的老师Frank（哈尔·霍尔布鲁克 Hal Holbrook 饰）的反对，Frank提出要整个镇上的人进行投票，以决定是否开始天然气的开采。而一名来自环保组织“雅典娜”的年轻人Dustin Noble（约翰·卡拉辛斯基 John Krasinski 饰）的突然出现，他以自己家乡因为开采石油气而遭到破坏为证据，更加剧了当地人民对开采天然气的抵触。Steve在当地认识的一名颇有好感的女性A...Corporate salesman Steve Butler (Matt Damon) arrives in a rural town with his sales partner, Sue Thomason (McDormand). With the town having been hit hard by the economic decline of recent years, the two outsiders see the local citizens as likely to accept their company's offer, for drilling rights to their properties, as much-needed relief. What seems like an easy job for the duo becomes complicated by the objection of a respected schoolteacher (Holbrook) with support from a grassroots campaign led by another man (Krasinski) who counters Steve both personally and professionally.
