2014年Old Vic剧场的版本，中间舞台四周观众的感觉很棒，表演区域不大但是并没有受局限，空间感很好的表现出来了。看完总觉得RA太大只了，最后最后的表现真的不够好，看导演在大段独白都切Elisa特写就知道了=、=；Elisa的演员好棒，口音偏英音可能是为了表现刻板（？）演的太好了不愿意相信是口音问题啊，这里Elisa的丰富的内心完全演出来了，特别喜欢这个女演员安娜·玛德蕾 Anna Madeley（果然是英国人=、=），她和本瞄居然合作“故园风雨后”，list加加加。有国话和电影的铺垫，最后居然把英文啃下来也是蛮佩服自己的。不过很明显，英文的金句、长句不容易记，能当场理解也觉得棒但是前后呼应的部分和点题的主旨台词都要看截图才发现，天然的语言障碍还是有那么点。这里飞扬而下的黑色纸片真的很有感觉，对比Hamlet还是更应景（看什么都要把BC挂出来鞭尸也是脑残粉的一种方式orz）。最后的结局没有最后一段的圣经背诵，去高潮化，更人性；对比电影版的悲壮、国话版单纯的愤怒，这个版本更多了凄凉。一个细节就是这里Andover作为对比是一直存在的，这个从hale出场就提到的引子在后来起了很重要的作用，显得salem更为顽固对真相视而不见。另外这里对妻子的表现也喜欢：不像国话的只是单纯的顺从，这里虽然都叫她goody Proctor，但是她更是一个独立的个体，她不阻拦JP的决定不是顺从，而是站在一个更高尚的角度，她的内心是pure的，她深切贯彻“每个人为自己负责”的想法；所以即使JP一开始的通奸、招供都是让她反感不符合她的三观的，她也不是一味指责，而是理解他、支持他、甚至于反省自己的错误；最后JP选择做个诚实的人选择绞架，她也是赞成的，因为她相信更大的审批在上帝的手中。剧情里总督大人、法官、hale甚至于Parris的对比，体现出了人性的召唤；仔细想想，Hale真的是蛮容易出彩的，开始的信心满满；中间有所怀疑并站在执法者的立场上进行思考、要求公正；最后被愧疚击倒，身为神父却站在拯救生命的立场上说服别人说谎，一步一步的情感转折是看得见的而且和观众的情感是贴合的，很容易博得好感，逆转后的一些台词，虽然更宗教同时也更具反讽的效果。（还有监狱里死刑犯们召唤Satan神马的，即使讽刺也是返程虔诚老奶奶和主角的内心坚定）。

二、四个男人的讨论——主要表现总督的性格
总督：
Mr Parris, you are a brainless man! (Audience laugh)
Andover is remedied. The court returns on Friday and resumes examinations.（其实他也开始怀疑自己的判断、对Abby的判断，却用Andover找理由）
Parris：
Andover have thrown out the court and will have no part of witchcraft. I fear there will be roit here.
法官
At every execution I have seen naught but high satisfaction in the town!
Parris:
Judge Hathorne, it were a different sort that hanged till now.
When I summoned the congregation for John Proctor's excommunicaiton.-受到了民众的质疑

总督：
When I speak God's law, I will not crack its voice with whimpering.（直接表现总督的缺乏同情心、这里的惨剧他要负主要责任）
Hale：
Excellency, if you postpone a week and publish to the town that you are striving for thear confessions, that speak mercy on your part, not faltering.（动之以情、晓之以理）
总督：
...so I cannot withhold from them the perfection of their punishment.
Hale：
If you think God wills you to raise rebellion, you are mistaken!
总督：
Why have you returned here?
Hale：
Why, it is all simple.I come to do the Devil's work.
I come to counsel Christians they should belie themselves!
三、Hale和Elisa的对话——hale的内心戏全出来了
Hale：
...for if he is taken, I count myself his murderer. Do you understand me?
Let you not mistake your duty as I mistook my own. I came into this village like a bridegroom to his beloved, bearing gifts of high religion.
The very crowns of holy law I brought, and what I touched with my bright confidence, it died, and where I turned the eye of my great faith, blood flowed up.
Beware, Goody Proctor, cleave to no faith when faith brings blood. It is mistaken law that leads you to sacrifice.
Life, woman, life is God's most precious gift. No principle, however glorious, may justify the taking of it.
Quail not before God's judgement in this, for it may well be God damns a liar less than he that throws his life away for pride.
Elisa：
I think that be the Devil's argument.
Hale：
Woman, before the laws of God we are as swine! We cannot read His will!
四、Elisa和JP的对话——步步败退，JP巨大的无力感
Elisa：
But let none judge you. There is no higher judge under Heaven than Proctor is!
JP：
Why do you cry it? It is evil, is it not? It is evil.
You would not; if tongs of fire were singeing you, you would not! It is evil!
Good, then - it is evil, and I do it! And there is your first marvel.
